Halloween Reading 10/26/15

Halloween Reading featuring Patrick Shawn Bagley, Kate Cone, April Hawks, and Katherine Silva: Monday, 10/26/2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Silver Street Tavern, Waterville ME. Drinks! Stories! Drinks!

Join us in our fourth year of murder, mayhem, and magic as a collection of Maine writers read from their most diabolical stories. Four of us will be at Silver Street Tavern and Restaurant this year, each writer reading for 10-15 minutes from one of their own works. Readings range from mystery to horror to thrillers. We can't wait to see you there!

Meet our readers!

Patrick Shawn Bagley is the author of the crime novel Bitter Water Blues. His stories of rural mayhem have appeared in Crimespree, The Iconoclast, Thrilling Detective and Spinetingler Magazine, as well as the Bleak House Books anthology Uncage Me. He was one of the founding editors of The Lineup: Poems on Crime. Patrick lives in a one-stoplight town, where he is writing a novel that combines the horror and crime genres. He holds BFA and MFA degrees in Creative Writing, has been a factory laborer, a bookseller, a pizza delivery guy, a reporter, and a teacher. Currently, he works at a non-profit community supports program for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Kate Cone is an author and freelance writer with an MFA in Creative Writing from the Stonecoast Writing Program. She is the author of What’s Brewing in New England: A Guide to Brewpubs and Microbreweries published by Downeast Publications in 1997. Her novel in progress, No One to Bury, is the second in her Griffin Kane series. Kate has appeared on WERU’s Writer’s Forum and is co-founder of LIT: Readings & Libations. She lives in Waterville with her husband Patrick, her golden retriever Henry David Thoreau and cat Pearl Prynne. She misses her three grown kids a lot, but does not miss getting up at the crack of dawn to put them on the school bus.

April Hawks grew up in Maine and has been an avid reader and writer since she learned to do either. She resides in a small, Maine town with her husband and four sons. April cofounded the writing group, The Tuesday Mayhem Society. She has several short stories appearing in Dark Corners Magazine, Bugs anthology from Great Old Ones Publishing, and a personal essay published with Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing. She is currently working on her first novel, which will hopefully be out late in 2015 or early 2016 through Double Life Press.

Katherine Silva is the Midcoast Maine author of the Monstrum Chronicles series, is a connoisseur of coffee, and victim of crazy cat shenanigans. Her second book in the series, Aequitas, was nominated for a 2013 Maine Literary award. She published her first comedy in November 2013. She is a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the New England Horror Writers Association and founder of the Midcoast Maine Halloween Readings series. Currently she resides in Rockland, Maine working on the rest of the books in the Monstrum Chronicles as well as other projects.
